There’s several ways to create edible flowers from wafer paper, but today, we’re using the easiest technique anyone can do. It requires just a few supplies, lots of patience, and time.
What is Wafer Paper?
Wafer paper is a tasteless edible paper made from potato starch and olive oil. It’s vegetarian, vegan, kosher, gluten free, dairy free, and nut free. Wafer paper is fragile and prone to cracking however, it can be manipulated by adding a little moisture at a time.
Supplies
Bask Farm precut wafer rounds (or wafer sheets)
Scissors or circle punch if wafer isn’t precut
2 Small flat brushes
Fluffy brush
Water
Wafer conditioner*
Color**
Cornstarch
Round mold - wine glass, cookie cutter, etc
*Wafer conditioner
1/2 tsp food-grade glycerin
2 tbsp distilled water
In a small bowl , mix ingredients. Add color if using; mix again and transfer to application tool - airbrush, spray bottle, etc
**Color
Color can be applied in several ways. Wafer can be colored by edible printer, petal dust, airbrush, food coloring gel, and natural or synthetic food coloring. I used a mixture of conditioner and gel food color.

Cut wafer. Simply unpack pre-cut rounds or cut wafer sheets into 2” circles with scissors or circle punch.

2. Mix conditioner and color.

3. Using a small flat brush, apply a thin layer of color to the front of back of the wafer rounds.

Using a fluffy brush, gently pat a small amount of cornstarch to the front and back of rounds to set and let dry.

Once dry, apply a thin line of water down the center and gently fold.

6. Bend the wafer rounds over the edge of your mold, overlapping as you make your way around. The number of wafer rounds will depend on the size of the mold and your desired look. Here, I used 25 rounds on a 2” wine glass.

Once dry, flip the mold over to reveal your rose! Repeat and store in an airtight container until ready to decorate.
